“Always trust in God.” These words took on new meaning as Father Adrian Anthony shared his life with us on the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels. Having gone through much in his 48 years of priesthood, we were honoured to have him as our dinner guest.
From the raising of a generation of priests as Rector of the Minor Seminary, to the restoration of the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd, Father Adrian Anthony brought us from the pre-Vatican II era to the present age. He shared the difficulties that he faced; from the time of his formation with its long and arduous journey to and from College General in Penang, the struggles of ministering to the people of God as well as the episode in 2015 where he was a victim of road rage.
Not that we should despair in the trials that come our way or boast about our own accomplishments. Father Adrian Anthony faithfully showed how providential the Hand of God was in all that he had been through. After all, at the end of the day, this is the Church, the Bride, of Jesus Christ our Lord and our God.
Time passed so quickly that night and we could not thank him enough for all the time that he had given to God and to His people. May the Lord keep you Father Adrian Anthony , and may the Holy Angels guide you always.
