The 2019 seminary community consisting of 12 seminarians and 2 priest formators had the privilege of spending two and a half days with Archbishop William Goh for a period of community bonding and strategic planning before officially commencing the year of formation.

Together with his Grace, we read and had discussions on the Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis (The Gift of the Priestly Vocation) being the recently promulgated guidelines for priestly formation under the pontificate of Pope Francis. What we treasured most was our Bishop’s presence and his fatherly heart in his interactions – encouraging, challenging, laughing and praying with us. We are most grateful to him for taking time off his busy schedule just to be with the seminary community.

The weekend ended with the celebration of the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord together with the installation of Br Justin Yip as Lector, being one of the minor orders one receives in the final years of formation. This involved a beautiful Eucharistic celebration and lunch with his family. The joy of the celebration was tripled with the addition of our three new Initiation Year brothers – Brandon, Francis and Joel as well as their families.

We thank and praise God for His abundant blessings and faithfulness as we begin this new academic year in 2019. Do pray for us as we continue as a brotherhood of passionate disciples to be formed after the heart of Christ, just as we pray for you.

Pax Christi!
